The online job review and search Web site has released its latest report, highlighting 25 of the highest-paying jobs in America based on salary reports shared on the site over the past 12 months. Glassdoor also included the number of job openings via its Web site for each position.
"This report reinforces that high pay continues to be tied to in-demand skills, higher education and working in jobs that are protected from competition or automation. This is why we see several jobs within the technology and healthcare industries," Glassdoor's Chief Economist Dr. Andrew Chamberlain said in a statement. "There's no doubt that pay is among the leading factors most job seekers weigh when determining where to work."
Chamberlain pointed out in an e-mail to TheStreet that even though technology has helped automate many job functions these days, some fields still require intense human judgement, technical skills and/or learning of complex laws.
"For example, the complexity of tax law requires many judgment calls and creative solutions to tax problems. Similarly, many top insurance positions are those managing client relationships and building customized solutions, something that requires the kind of flexibility that's hard to automate," Chamberlain wrote.
To be considered for the report, job titles must have had at least 75 salary reports shared on Glassdoor by U.S.-based employees over the 12 months through Jan. 23, 2016. The number of job openings per job title represents active job listings on Glassdoor as of Feb. 23, 2016.
